We LOVE J Brooks-- wonderful coffee and truly special people :)
Thanks Hannah!!! I'm glad you had a good time and it was so nice to meet you! -Kat
Actually, I think this is really more a statement on how litigious we've become. Every time I see something stupid like those instructions, I always figure it was because some idiot managed to hurt himself with something obvious (peanuts in peanut butter, a cardboard box, hot coffee, etc) and now the company has learned to protect themselves. Insane.
Odd. We didn't get a fruitcake, but someone did leave a bunch of romance novels neatly stacked on our bookshelf in the customer seating area of the bakery... like the Gideon of romance. :)
Obviously, this is a cake specifically designed to give to someone who just found out the puppy they got for Christmas doesn't have any ears. There's even a space on top for an inscription that should read, "At least he has paws! Congrats on the new puppy!"
And ditto for submitting it to cakewrecks.com awesomeness. :)
One of the great things about living in Memphis is that you can go so many places and get spins on the same food.
My sweetie's mom makes a delicious pimento cheese that is definitely chunky-not-creamy and a little spicy. Nan shared the recipe with me and and we serve it at Muddy's, my bakery, by the tub or on the Thomas Sandwich (named for said sweetie) as a pimento cheese BLT, as this is what he would request at every sandwich place we ever went to.
I'm also a big fan of the versions served at Trolley Stop and Fork It Over. Yay for my local eatery pals! Shall we designate this week in July as forever hereafter Pimento Cheese Week? :)
I love Baked! Never been, but I've made some of their goodies at home and Muddy's and Baked are Twitter friends. :) I'll definitely be stopping by to say hello in person next time I'm in the NY area.
