I might possibly buy the theory that she was supposedly a victim of abuse and that she felt this was her only option if that was what the facts actually showed. Instead, because my family knew her family at the time of the murder, I know that she sent her two young (elementary and middle school aged) sons into the house to find the body of their father who she knew was dead. Her son may have forgiven her - that is probably the best thing for his own well-being. But any woman who would knowingly send her own children into a house to find their father beaten to death is, in my opinion, not a victim but a cruel individual who deserves whatever sentence she was given.
