So why is it okay to use that type of hurtful language when you are black, but it is not okay if you are white? I cringe every time I hear those words and refused to let my children use any racial slurs when they were growing up, but all you have to do is watch a black comedian on the comedy channel or hear some varieties of music and you hear them all the time. Paula Dean was wrong to use that word, but my father did it when I was in my teens, and she strikes me as about his age or younger. It is not the right thing to do by any means, but an apology is an apology. How many black people does she employ who will now lose their jobs? I agree with her sons; this seems like extortion to me.
They have a right to speak. They have no right to an audience. I was happy to see them leave.
When you dream, dream big! I like the idea of the bar being set high. Not every kid can or will go to college, but the work being done on these applications is practice for the real world of applying for a job as well as applying for college. I know of a few kids who did not think college was for them and regret their choices now. We need take for granted that every one of these students is intelligent and ready for college. I applaud the principal for setting an impressive standard. I hope the parents can get behind it.
You all have a right to protest how and where you please under the law. While I get my dinner on Friday I will congradulate you on the decision of choosing who to kiss and where to kiss them. Until you can present proof to me that Chik Fil A has refused service to a gay couple I just don't care where that corporation (privately held and family owned) spends it's money. The owner stands up for what he believes in. You have the right to do the same. I don't agree with the U.S. contributing to the budget for the United Nations. I still pay my taxes.
To an unconstitutional body from one that no longer exists. We are not in Kansas anymore.
At the time the city decided not to pay the schools, Myron Lowry said that if they had to do a special assessment for the schools in the future if they lost the court case no one would mind paying the special assessment because it is for the schools. Well, I mind. I mind very much. If the money was held in escrow until the case was adjudicated, like Jim Strickland suggested, there would not be a problem now. Giving up 12 holidays just about takes care of the raise the employees were given. Life sucks, doesn't it. Nobody wins when bills are ignored.
I, too, see problems ahead for the merger, but, unlike Dr. Cash, I have not had a chance to see any improvements. In my opinion, he talks a good game but he is like a used car salesman - say anything to get you to buy what he's selling. A simple fact check will reveal that he is stretching the truth to great degree.
