Re: “Doctors Are Using a Prenatal Steroid to Prevent Lesbians, Tomboys, and Independent Women

I can't tell if you're making fun of me or not, merc. All I'm trying to say is that I dislike hypocrisy. Why it's for some reason o.k. to have a designer baby and alter all of the logically inferred God-given traits to fit someone's personal definition of 'normal' just blows my mind.

Re: “Doctors Are Using a Prenatal Steroid to Prevent Lesbians, Tomboys, and Independent Women

I find it amusing that the same people who will support this brilliant and much needed breakthrough are the same ones that, when talking about abortion or the right to end your own life, are quick to point out that it's God and nobody else that makes those decisions. Another hilarious observation- being a medical research doctor doesn't fit so well with the whole women should be traditional mothers thing, Dr. New.

Re: “Blunt Assessment

Autoegocrat- While I agree with you that the illegality of recreational marijuana seems at best insulting in light of the fact that people are allowed to ruin their bodies and minds with alcohol and tobacco with pretty sparse regulation, I disagree that this ought to be a higher priority than legalization of medical marijuana. Everyone knows it is illegal to purchase and/or use this substance, thus it is not an injustice or a violation of anyone's civil liberties when they are arrested for doing so. Pot smokers aren't martyrs, they just want to get high. And as long as there are people out there to demand it, there will be someone to supply it. Sure, the restrictions and negative stigmas seem misplaced to me as well, but I don't foresee anyone changing these laws anytime soon. And until they do, it will always be a choice people make to break the law if they decide to smoke pot. Perhaps if medical marijuana were made legal, then people would realize after a while that it's not actually the same thing as heroin or crack and lighten up a little on the puritanical lambasting. So, yes, it is a good gateway issue.

Re: “Hey, Big Spender

Nice math, Mr. 38103. Your addition skillz have allowed ONLY for the wage of the server, however. Good job, you fail. What about the rent, taxes, food cost, equipment cost/maintenance, insurance, advertising, repairs, phone/electricity/water/computer etc.... You clearly have no idea what goes in to running a restaurant or any other business. Stay behind the desk (or piece of industrial equipment, as you are apparently some sort of blue collar hero) for your own good, sir.

Re: “Hey, Big Spender

The comments on this article really highlights how unashamedly clueless so many of you white collar consumers are in regards to the way things work for business owners.

And to all the people who so informatively suggest that waitstaff simply find more gainful employ- Not all of us were so lucky as to live off our daddy's money while we were in college. And sadly the mall just wasn't hiring that day.
