Shocked that there are no complaints down here. Have we all finally come together to agree to a solution? Or is it simply no one saw this article? :-)
Oh and to Summer Hillman...take some time to review the zoo's financials. You will find out that the zoo costs us much more than they bring in. When I say us...I mean Memphis residents...not sure if you live in Memphis or outside of the city limits.
What is Mr. Brady talking about....does he understand how much people have to WALK WHEN THEY GET INTO THE ZOO?!?!?! Also where does he get off saying people would have to walk a mile anyway?!?!?! Does he even know what a mile is? That would be like having to park at the Starbuck on Union at McLean to be a mile. REALLY?!?!? If you took the ABSOLUTE worst spot on North Parkway (which would be the corner of East Parkway and North Parkway) its not a mile. Home Depot on Poplar is just over a mile...does he have any understanding of the concept of a linear measurement? Is this like a "Brady Mile"?
Ok...I will be the first to admit that I didn't think he was going to step up and make the park supporters and the zoo board compromise...I was wrong. Win for the zoo. Win for the park. Win for the city. Good job Mr. Mayor.
Just more smoke and mirrors from the zoo. Just enough information for them to say they are playing ball but not enough for the tax payers of Memphis to actually know whats going on. I still say that this is the simplest of problems to fix. Let the zoo park on the the greensward...2/3 for a year if they really need it...1/3 for another year or two...and then at the end of three years, if the zoo hasn't figured out their parking problem...too bad. No more parking on park property. Not sure why the city is making this so difficult, when it is such an easy problem to fix. They zoo is acting like a spoiled rotten child and there's only one way to deal with spoiled rotten children...that is to take away their toys if and when they don't behave.
Yeah now that's a good idea. I used to get so frustrated when 2 cars would go nose to nose with cars behind them and suddenly absolute gridlock. That should probably become the norm 7 days a week.
Sadly Jeff...you are probably right. I hate that you are right...but this City Council has its mind set on making sure they destroy our park. This is the eternal fight between liberals nd conservatives. The conservatives are too business friendly and the liberals want to give everything away for free. Never leaving any air to be breathed in the middle for fiscally conservative and socially liberal candidates. Radicals on the right and radicals on the left...currently we are stuck with those on the right. As a backlash we will dump these guys at the first chance and probably swing radically to the left next election cycle. Its enough to make you sea sick...or just plain sick.
