The thing they are not saying in this article: hiring great teachers will only work for a short time, eventually those teachers see that their environment does not support them. By environment I mean Principals, fellow teachers, and district officials. MCS is has to allow these teachers to be creative, not tying their hands by saying "teach this now, use this method, stop teaching that at this time." When teachers get in, they realize they are not given the resources or support they need to maintain an great classroom. Behavior problems are out of control too. This money should go to hire better principals who make sure teachers have the environment they need to provide great teaching. What I'm saying is that you can't isolate the teacher. Put a great teacher in an environment where teaching is impossible and they may not be great anymore.
