Update your address book! They are reopening at Summer and I240 in the Garden Ridge Shopping Center. Whew... Best authentic Asian food in town. Have a waiter/waitress explain the all Asian menu as there are wonderful dishes to try.
What saddens me the most as I peruse these comments aren't the thinly veiled racist and segregationist remarks but the apparent lack of spell check by any of you long- winded arm chair referees. To explain further: If a word is underlined in red, please right click it and correct the spelling, otherwise ALL of you need to head back to the nearest elementary school not only for remedial work, but to spare my good senses. And YOU are having a discourse on public education?
@ mad merc, me thinks you hit the target.. All about position, isn't it?
Great story, and even better, these groups realize that there IS power in numbers. Hmmm, didn't realize I am now considered a "Leftist"per the CA's byline... Still scratching my head on that one!
Representative Cohen has alway drawn the line during his terms at the Federal level and not been drawn in by local politics. This is as it should be, however, with the loss of 6 million dollars looming, I hope the SCC reconsiders what is at stake for our children of Memphis. Thank you, Steve, for educating our commissioners. I believe they will do right for our kids. If not, they will each have to look in the mirror every day, and be held accountable for this travesty by the voters who elected them.
@Mphsnative great site and info on Tom Lee. We take field trips to the park to talk about his heroism and fearlessness. My goodness, to think he couldn't swim but was so determined to save as many lives as possible.
Loved the the latest picture of the Tom Lee Statue, but guys, stop mincing the difference betwen 45ft and 48ft. It's over. Done. One was right , one was wrong. Yes, the NWS adjusted the crest on May 3rd, but all of us who paid attention to the formidable wrath of the Mississippi had an inkling that this time we'd see flooding of epic proportions in the flood plain areas. Kudos to the Shelby County Office of Preparedness and to all of the volunteers who worked countless hours, 24/7, to assist the families affected by the high water. And Vance, please wear something other than white when you bathe in the Mississippi. Your laundress is running out of bleach!
I love Memphis, the good, the bad (not really), and the progress WE have made. We've begun to love ourselves again, and now we begin to love one another. Nothing is perfection, but we are on the way. Memphis is sizzling in the air, and on the air!
Really pissed offf
