Even if Bates' story was a scam, it was such a bold and incredible claim. Did St. John really say those things to Bates or anyone else? If he didn't, where did Bates come up with the idea for this bizarre story? How did Bates think anyone would believe it? This is a really interesting story from several different angles. A recent TV program, I think it was called, "Brad Meltzer's Decoded," certainly raised enough questions that I think the accuracy of the Booth being killed in the barn is at very least, currently in doubt.
