It is interesting that Pastor Birgette French led the Union Avenue congregation in their decision to sell the church in a decision clouded by secrecy, and now the First Works project she heads will receive money from this sale.
As for Mark Matheny's suggestion concerning "establishing a strategic community fund, so there can be not only advocacy but also grants available to help responsible owners pursue preservation," I invite him to be the first to make a considerable contribution from the funds gained from this sale.
It is exceedingly thoughtful for him to be helping Redeemer Presbyterian Church locate a building. Perhaps it will be another failing Methodist church--unless a commercial entity willing to pay more appears.
