Memphis Flyer, thank you for making my Great Uncle Tom Lee the cover story. Just like everyone else I was in awe...however Tom Lee's statue was in water 86yrs to the day he saved 32 lives in the Mississippi River and we find that a way of Tom Lee speaking to the world...Wikipedia has some good info on my Uncle, however here is the REAL story of my great uncle at www.tomleeamemphishero.webs.com...ENJOY!!
Thank you Diane Sawyer for making my Great Uncle Tom Lee a focus of your story while in Memphis, it was GREATLY appreciated
Very interesting that NOW they find a new space for the MIM/BBQ, and find it more appropriate, when of all these years, have they never honored Tom Lee himself in his own park...it's about time it flooded maybe they will recognize Tom Lee the next time...
"Boland said Tiger Lane offers plenty of space for the festival, with some tents popping up even bigger than they would have at Tom Lee Park."
