Re: “Herenton Charter Applications Get Slow Walked

What is it about Mayor Herenton that intimidates people so much? Oh- I know. Personally, I am hoping Dr. Herenton will get his schools assimilated- and he will have NO problem acquiring excellent Instructors to make a difference in these children's lives. I will be one of the first in line. Keep striving, Dr. Herenton. You will prevail, because we want our children to prevail.

Re: “Something's Up at Sears Crosstown

Well- For ANYone considering inhabiting the building-as well as the nearby residents- it should be MANDATORY that FULL Remediation be done for what is sure to be IMMENSE TOXIC MOLD DAMAGE.

Re: “Up in the Air

After the way the city showed utter disrespect by increasing costs of just about EVERYthing COGIC patronized when they convened in Memphis- I find it almost appalling and quite a show of nerve that the Mayor & Kane would show up in St. Louis to "win" their business back. If I were in a leadership position with COGIC- I'd give them a respectful flip of the "NO!". Miss that $$$ now, don't you Memphis?

Re: “State Election Coordinator's Memphis Visit Highlights Photo-ID Battle

Why is it that laws passed requiring responsibilty from big corporations don't go into effect for years down the road- while laws that punish the poor and minorities go into effect immediately? This is CLEARLY an attempt-like in other states with GOP-controlled legislatures- to prevent JUST ENOUGH voters who are likely to vote for DEMOCRATS to produce a win for the GOP-because they know people are sitting on edge to get Republicans out of offices nationwide. It should be repealed IMMEDIATELY- or it should not be allowed to take effect until 2016. They can't win on their own-so they manipulate the vote.
How PATHETIC.

Re: “A Month Ago, Cohen Foresaw Hart's 9th District Challenge — and the Outcome

Well...This is interesting. Cohen says his "grapevine" has him on the upside- be very careful taking the Black vote for granted... many have seen their grapes wither on the vine by doing so. Having supported Cohen in the past, I am UNimpressed by his lackluster representation. I hope Ms. Hart throws her hat in...I think she'd pull it off. And if she doesn't get the job done, we will elect someone else who will!

Re: “Letter from the Editor

Bruce- Thanks, Man. I don't know you personally, but we are in quite the same atmosphere. As long as there are more people like us-you, me, and many, many others- who see this matter for the full range of its' seriousness- we can make this change happen. Let's hold fast to our yearning for what IS just- for what IS fair, right & true-and DILIGENTly work towards that goal-we WILL make it happen...Countless numbers of others before us have done likewise. GOD Bless you.
