hahhahaa....over heard preview night during Act I from a member of the audience who was not a usual play goer, so not accustomed to the convention of the actor/director in the auditorium interrupting the scenes, said "I don't think these people know what they are doing"..haahahhaaaa. That is how it would appear, wouldn't it? Job done.

underwear, doors, sardines, sheets and things that clatter....this photo kinda sums it all up.
I would like to go on record that I would never try to actively start any shenanigans on stage to crack anyone up...but I can sure finish it. The Midnight shows of Irma Vep are legendary as is my daring Enid [one of Mr. Chambers characters in Vep]. In fact the idea of midnight show madness is so engrained in me that when I am working on any show and come up with some idea so insane and out of context for the whole of the play I'll say..."Let's save that for the midnight show".
I remember both well. Saw quite a few productions at Gaslight,
Man of LaMancha" and "Little Abner" stick in my memory.. and did I a children's show there. But I very much remember working with a Theatre group called The Marions and we performed "Sound of Music" at the Holiday Inn Dinner Theatre. I think I was nun.
