@1voice ( and we can be thankful for that ) Shelters should never be run at capacity. Helloooo emergencies, hoarder, dog fight rings, where do you think those dogs would go ?
I am aghast, aghast, I tell you. Perhaps the Biscuit's could knit little sweaters for the beds untill the new ones arrive. After all, most of the dogs in the shelter have come from pampered pet Hotel's according to the NKNJ group ( thanks Shel ) Get real, the problem is being addressied this is just a chance to direct traffic to YB so she can direct it to the hate monger she learned from.
It's to bad you wrote this as though the report were fact,if the talkative employees had real grieveances they can put them in writng to take action. It's sour grapes, as for the web cams, get real, that will keep any decent manager from getting near the place. What Bryan describes sounds pretty intrusive and unsustainable.
Good for Canyon Moon and a couple of other people who care enough to post the very best. It isn't about Reno, although Reno was held up as a model for Memphis even though the demographics are very different. It is about the reality of trying to mandate a sanctuary model on a public shelter. None of the goofy people can get a grip on something so complicated as " where do you put them " The devil with marketing them like dyed chicks at Easter. There are only so many homes and when those are full it's time to grow up and act like a public shelter. I do follow the marketing strategies all over the country and I can tell you, marketing only works when you have customers. 1voice you should marry jcs and go form a nice little assylum in the country.
Boy howdy, do some of you get over the top! Good points by Canyon Moon, to bad they fell on minds to closed to consider them. @jcs What has all your condemnation done for the creatures in the system near your home ? I'm sure some of you may live in Memphis, but this smells like Ryan and Brent on parade with this rhetoric. For the No Kill apologists, you know who you are, where are you going to put these animals ? Get your butt down there and take home a couple of pitbulls, help lower euthanasia by adopting a "troubled dog" yourself. All you do is whine for somebody else to do something.
@happy volunteer: Good for you !! The sour grapes like jcs are jsut ticked off that they are not " overnight managers" True volunteers are a Godsend and spend their time helping animals not criticizing policy. JCS maybe if you wanted to be a help not a hindrance you would be welcomed. Bruiser seems to be related to jcs carrying the genetic " pity pot" disorder. Go MAS, new building and new day. Don't let these losers wear you or your dedicated volunteers down.
Not to certain what the author is going for here. After a few reads, I may still need more coffee, I think it's anti MAS. But, it could be anti Second Chance, hard call. If it's a plea to open the stray area to the public, bad idea. It could be wanting to have volunteers tell staff how to run the place, another bad idea. It may be just what the author titled it " the rant" The usual no kill commenters are here with the same tired ideas, not solutions. Posting pictures on the internet doesn't create homes, it creats pictures on the internet. Some of these dogs are not lost they are abandoned, and some may have even been " stolen" and the owners could be looking. Those owners should get down to the shelter and look for their dog. How about personal responsibility for your pet ?
