We're in a global economy and the unions are gone with the wind. Why pay a man $45/hr to do what someone else will do for $12/hr? Oh, and then theres the renegotiating. "We're going to start a new line based on our customer's needs"...not so fast, thats not in our contract...
Apple wanted a special glass screen for the Iphone. The rep takes it to China and in 9 days they're in production! If they tried that from a union co. they'd still be negotiating the profit sharing!
Sorry, the days when the unions ran the companies are gone.
