Anything that is painful to those of color requires history to rewritten to suit his/her needs. Forrest was a part of American painful history. The Civil War originated when the Southern states decided to secede from the Union. It would be further into the war when the issue of slavery arose. While Lincoln did free the slaves by the Emancipation Proclamation, how many people know of his plan to send all slaves to an island off the coast of South Carolina. Had Lincoln not met his untimely assassination, there would most likely be no one of color in the US. Ummmmmmm points to ponder.
