If you read George Klein's great book about Elvis, you'll hear about Colonel Parker turning down the Star Is Born offer. He didn't give a hoot that E wanted the role. Broke his heart....
I'm absolutely dumbfounded that Mr. Boone neglected to tell his readers that the "former Easley-McCain studio on Deadrick" is alive, well and better than ever. He goes on to tell us that "the studio was lost to fire in 2005. The owner opted not to rebuild." Wrong. The current caretakers have completely restored the studio and have reverted it to the original name, American Recording Studio. It's strength lies in the amazing 'live' room, which has a magical sound, and vibe for days. World class equipment and top quality engineering complete the picture. I would hardly be exaggerating if I told you it's the crown jewel of Memphis recording studios.
