What a gift Elaine Blanchard is to the city of Memphis, along with Friends for Life and these brave individuals who are finding courage to share their stories.
That's wonderful for you, boydeasley. But maybe think back six years ago when you were initially diagnosed. Going gluten-free for life is radical lifestyle and diet change, especially when following an American diet. You've had plenty of time to adjust. Hopefully time will help Andria adjust as well. In lieu of compassion, might you volunteer some tips, recipes, local restaurants that have made this adjustment "not a difficult lifestyle" for you?
Oh no need to defend being glib! It was simply the "script 'probably' says..." comment where I realized you didn't have an actual script to work with :)
I loved that you took time to devote serious thought and discussion on what is typically the most under appreciated category. Truly. But Greg's comment threw me: "The script probably says something like, "Anne struggles to eat." Were either of you able to actually read the screenplays before passing judgement on them? Even with the plethora of sites offering free pdfs of screenplays, it can be hard to track down the actual scripts, so I don't blame you for having to make your best guess. God knows anyone in the Academy actually reads the screenplays before casting their vote. Just call it the vain hope that the writer's hard work was given a glance rather than just an assumption!
