I just want to say as a concerned parent that Shelby county schools have been doing great. Memphis city schools, awful. And then by creating this unified school district they are going to take away from the programs in the suburbs to focus on Memphis city schools. That doesn't raise the standard of education for the entire county. They are essentially going to penalize the suburbs and drop their standard of education they have worked hard to build. I moved away from Memphis City Schools to the suburbs for the simple fact that my child would have a better education and more community involvement in the schools. With the unified district it will be taken away and that is not fair. Without all the political mumbo jumb, that's what it's all about, the level of education.
