Perhaps we are fighting for the wrong thing here? You speak of the need to make it so people can go so far into debt that they can 'afford' to go to college... Ummm... maybe, just maybe, we have create an inadequate system for today's technology? Why can't EVERYONE be subject to a Harvard education? Why does it have to cost as much as it does? Why do you even have to go to an accredited school any longer? Which is more important the knowledge you have or the institution you attend? Why are we still continuing a system that is 800 years old?
Look like many things in life the main issue is that education is REALLY expensive because we have made it REALLY expensive. Maybe if we tried we could get rid of how expensive college is in the first place. Then we would not have to care about having student loans? Just my thoughts.
