The bickering started after councilman Reid Hedgepeth added (at the very last minute) the condition of the larger spaces and left absolutely no time for public input on this added "condition," which carves up an additional acre of green space. It is irresponsibility by this councilman who twice has "forgotten" to pay his taxes that is a reason to lose faith in him and city government. He is the problem. He will be remembered as one of the city's worst council members of all time.
looks like someone's pants is on fire!
Terrible idea! Have you ever been in the Old Forest after major storms, which can pop up unexpectedly in spring and summer? Many downed tree limbs and occasionally large trees that fall during and after storms. Very unsafe environment for trams. No offense, Mr. Brady, but you want one falling on a tram full of women and children? MATA buses with experienced drivers running on existing roads would be safer and much more efficient. The East Parkway to Poplar to Zoo entrance route would take 2-5 minutes longer and provide a safer option and would preserve the aesthetics of this ancient forest. Why thumb your nose at the tens of thousands of Memphians who use this area for recreational purposes when there are better options. I say this as an experienced National Park Service ranger.
"He (Brady) reminds us somewhat of a Japanese soldier discovered on a Pacific island, years after World War II is over, unaware that the battle has long been lost."
"Former friends Chuck & MJ"
MJ wised up. No one wants to be friends with an ass clown!
And Brady is not even a Memphian. He has no interest in the community. It would be in everyone's best interest if he would just go away.
Brady needs to check his ego at the door. Or resign. His statement is ridiculous. He wants to destroy the integrity of the old forest by running trams through it even though a shuttle from the GS area would take no more than 2 extra minutes. Brady himself has been the problem all along. The zoo would do much better with fresh blood. He should leave for the good of the zoo and Overton Park.
