Chris, I think it is just derivative of his earlier work, which isn't necessarily a bad thing -- but I believe the sculpture is from the early 2000s, and, by then, video art & media had changed so much that the initial punch packed by Nam Jun Paik's weird Americana was no longer...punchy. It was a safe commission for the Brooks. Much safer than the Marisol commission thirty years earlier. Not to mention that is has since dominated a rotunda space that could have been used for Guggenheimian strangeness, performance, installation... I think this is a good move. Is all I'm saying.

I am really interested to learn that there are so many Wilhelm Reich fans amongst our readers. Speaking as an arts airhead, are you all up for an interview?
Feel free to correct me. I know more about Kate Bush than I do about Reich, but this was based on a couple of short bios I read of his work.
