Re: “Alexander, Ball in Heated Tennessee Senate Race

There is nothing "evil" about a trial lawyer who provides legal services to victims who have or will be damaged by the negligence, greed and selfishness of others.
Why should a common voter or anyone with moral principles, compassion and patriotism vote for Alexander again; a do-nothing phony ideologue who cares not a whit for common people and is more concerned about ingratiating himself with millionaires, tax evaders and special interests than helping those who can't afford to buy his support? Think he can get through the “eye of a needle”?

Re: “The Democrats’ Dilemma: Part One — Decline in Tennessee

Mr. Baker,

Why did you remove my previous responses to you and Drift Boat?
The Flyer apparently communicates similarly to the Memphis Bar Association. It throws rocks and then runs away or puts its website under construction; you and the Flyer just erase the opposition or muzzle the responder.

In fairness to your readers, if you and the Flyer aren’t serious and don't want readers to respond to your self-serving monologue or to engage in a dialogue with other readers, please don't offer them a faux forum for that purpose. Just take your forum and go home if you can’t play fair.

Your action reminds me of a scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" wherein the bartender in Martini's scolded George Bailey by saying, ". . . we serve hard liquor here to men who want to get drunk fast and we don't need any 'characters' in here giving the place 'atmosphere'. "

In any event, I shall move on and leave you with your own reflection.

Peace be with you. Over and out.

Mr. Baker,

I'll take that as a compliment.

Re: “The Democrats’ Dilemma: Part One — Decline in Tennessee

Mr. Baker,

How would you know what Judicial Commissioner Damita Dandridge did or didn't do during the election? Did you ever speak with her or any other judicial candidate to learn why any of them were running or report to the public on any judicial issues about which voters should be aware prior to voting?

The point is not what you could have done for me or her or any other individual candidate; but what you and the Flyer and other so-called trusted news sources COULD have done for the PUBLIC.

I don’t blame you or the Flyer or the voters for my loss. I blame myself for not being a better candidate and for not now having the opportunity to reform that corrupted institution to better serve the intended beneficiaries of the Probate Courts.

Sure, it appears that I lost the election but the real losers are the most vulnerable among us and their family members and friends who must depend on the Probate Courts for relief and assistance, as well as the taxpayers; all of which will ultimately pay the price for judicial favoritism and the resulting statutory and constitutional violations of the Probate Courts which have now been ratified by this election. Conversely, the unworthy winners are Judges Webster and Gomes and their friends: some lawyers, politicians, accountants, banks, trust officers, insurance and bonding companies, health care providers, etc., etc., as well all THEIR friends and associates.

Any plans to monitor and report on future outcomes in Probate Court matters relative to campaign contributions and social connections with the Judges?

Re: “How Tennessee Turned Red

With all due respect Mr. Baker, I can't wait to hear you explain how you and the Flyer shamefully failed to investigate and report on activities of elected officials which clearly constitute conflicts with the public's interests and breaches of the public trust. And, how you and the Flyer misled voters by choosing instead to bolster and give credence to misleading propaganda such as the bogus MBA “qualifications poll’ and reported on the election as though it was a “soap opera” instead of a very important opportunity for voters to get informed and choose wisely.

Instead, you and the Flyer chose to discredit the Democratic Party and good faith candidates of any stripe who dared to challenge incumbents who have and will no doubt continue to breach the public trust for 8 more years, and purposely misled voters in order to preserve the corrupt status quo; all while cleverly disguised as a popular progressive news source. What a bad joke to play on your readers.

Spare us the post mortem report from the doctor whose errors and omissions regrettably contributed to the death of the patient in the first place. No doubt you all meant well, right?

Re: “No “Down Ballot” in Shelby County This Year

The Flyer and its parent company have obviously turned a blind eye to the public’s right to know and are now single-mindedly serving the special parochial interests of the MBA, which every 8 years perpetrates a “drive-by defamation" on all judicial contenders in favor of the status quo. The Flyer obviously doesn’t want its readers to learn any specifics about how the bogus “poll” was conducted and the lack of objective criteria which should form the basis for any meaningful, reliable opinions of the MBA members. Regretfully and to its shame, The Flyer is still pushing the bogus MBA poll results for the public to “rubber stamp”. If the Flyer really wants to aid voters, how about publishing the OBJECTIVE criteria which should form the BASIS for the much-hyped, fatally flawed and grossly misleading MBA "FIAT" and report why the MBA shut down its website and refuses to allow the public to view the actual candidate information which the members allegedly relied upon.

Also, while you're at it, why not publish for the benefit of the voting public, all the MBA affiliated law firms (big and small) and attorneys, insurance companies, financial institutions, professional and other special interest groups, etc., which has sponsored a "fundraiser" for or contributed money, goods, services, etc. to an incumbent judge or MBA affiliated challenger? Now THAT would be extremely informative and helpful to voters as it would clearly reveal the appearance of conflict of interest and impropriety. Then we would believe that the parent company of the Flyer has the cojones to inspire the voting public towards effecting positive reforms for the benefit of ALL; present and future citizens.
