Don't get the uproar over the national schedule. It's based on numbers, that's it. NBA and NFL are too different animals, MLB is a better comparison (regional tv deals and numbers not driven as much by fantasy/gambling as NFL).
And what is the reason that people were in a uproar, in other words, what would be benefit of of playing on espn. Someone in Seattle, LA, or NY sees grizzlies and becomes fan or wants to come to Memphis for vacation??? Really?? Grizzlies should be focused on growing the regional fan base (Nashville, Little Rock, St. Louis, Jackson, and all parts in between). But people in these areas should already be able to see the grizzlies on regional channels.
Grizzlies should be playing at least one preseason game in a nearby city every year against the best opponent they get to make it an event in that city. They should be focused on converting regional fans, not fans far away or in areas with nba teams.
