      <![CDATA[I went to a UofM panel discussion on the civil rights movement some years back, featuring John Beifuss (speaking on behalf of his mother Joan's historical accountings) and Ernest Withers. To say it was lightly attended would be polite; at age 35, I was easily the youngest person there by easily ten years, which Mr Withers observed in ruing the absence of students and other young people.
