<![CDATA[Memphis Flyer, please fix the comments so that a carriage return and a line feed are recognized as a paragraph break. It is ridiculous that comments on the website of the most astute publication in the city are formatted into solid blocks of barely legible text.

<![CDATA[For those of you who, like me, wondered why this was called the Amethyst Initiative, here's the reason: The word Amethyst is derived from the Ancient Greek words meaning “not” (a-) and “intoxicated” (methustos). According to mythology, Amethyst was a young girl who incurred the wrath of the God Dionysus after he became intoxicated with red wine.

<![CDATA[If under-21's can get "fitshaced" on campus as they could before repeal of this hard-won Vietnam-era right, they typically do not need to drive to unsupervised location keg parties as they do these days.

<![CDATA[While I agree it should be lowered, I also agree with the bartender that was interviewed. Removing the stigma of drinking will remove a lot of the allure, but let's face it.

<![CDATA[Seems the first step has to be to repeal Nancy Reagan's micturation on her husband's 50-state laboratory by repealing that federal legislation. Let's see, that would take a Senator or Congressman...hmmm...like Steve Cohen.

<![CDATA[Two issues: 1) If an 18 year old can decide a murder trial, elect a President, buy a car or house, join the military and go to war, he or she should certainly have the right to decide if he/she can have a beer. 2) The Federal government has no Constitutional right to impose an age limit; they just openly (and to many, illegally) blackmail the states to impose it: "you don't HAVE to impose it - you'll just lose $billions in funds".
