Hey Litz...what do you know about California Democrats? I'm one...but was born and raised in Tennessee and even worked for the Tennessee Democratic Party. I hope folks can move past whatever issues they have with Chip and start getting Democrats elected in Tennessee. Isn't that the point? Get over it. Chip is whip smart and knows how to win races. Let him do his job.

Wow, this doesn't surprise me at all. The Tennessee Democrat party has long been more interested in protecting its turf than winning elections. They continue to stand firmly rooted by their greatest losers against the tide of Democratic sentiment that's been sweeping the country since 2006.

Fact of the matter is, Forrester was elected by the state Dem Executive Committee - which is itself elected directly by voters, on the ballot during Gubernatorial election years.

Not that the EC is itself any great shining pantheon of virtue, but it'd be interesting to see if this complete gutting of the Chairman's position is in violation of state party bylaws or even of state law. Not that I expect petty considerations like TN statutes to govern anything significant hereabouts....

Litz' choice of words is more interesting in light of the fact that the one Democratic congressman staying out of this spent formative years in California.

Absent a real ward & precinct patronage system, those who attend local and now even state party meetings lose out to the guys who can afford contributions big enough to king-make among the candidates.
