If I was lucky our trip there coincided with the train passing by on the tracks located behind. When my sisters and I would hear the whistle and the clang of the bells at the crossing on White Station we would jump out of the car and run around to the back of the building.

The late Charles Crump was an attorney and represented the Trop in some manner. (at least I seem to remember that from a visit I made there with him and his son Steve crump who is a noted local woodworker and furniture designer) Anyway, Steve may even have a photo somewhere.

I remember eating at Shoney's Big Boy and walking over to the Tropical Freeze with my parents. My older brother who graduated from Overton High spent many a dollar on me there when he was hangin out with the guys.

At the moment, I'm far away from my research library, so can't provide you with an exact chronology, but after the Tropical Freeze building was torn down (assuming that it WAS, and not just converted into something else), the next eatery to occupy that corner was Roy Rogers Roast Beef. After that came Danver's (though some people believe it was Danver's — and not Roy Rogers — that followed the Tropical Freeze).

When did Pancho's Taco get built on that spot (which is what the building Starbucks currently occupies used to be)? 'Cause that's all I can remember being there (granted, my memory only goes back to when I was 4 or 5 - about '72-'73).
