      <![CDATA[Our family included several generations of Messick alumni; we still get together and have a tight bond; many of were in the 12 Year Club as were our parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The only fellow to ever quarterback an NCAA national champonship team from Memphis was Freddy Marshall, Messick 1959 City Champs, University of Arkansas Razorbacks, 1964 National Champions...Many folks say our Dad, Stumpy Kirk, was the greatest white athlete in his era to come out of Memphis, however, he was 1/4 Native American....

      <![CDATA[<p>Vance, as a Messick graduate (class of 1975) now living in Louisiana, thanks for the memories.<br><br /><br><br />The block of stone shown in the picture was over the front door of the original 1908 classroom building. Right above it was the original name of the school — Elizabeth Messick County High School.
