Seeing as both the Fairgrounds and Overton Square are occupied either as non-pervious parking lots or buildings, their redevelopment should not increase the amount of storm water runoff by a huge degree. If they had large areas of open, unpaved land, then we might have a problem.

We have a rare opportunity to make a dramatic improvement in regards to stormwater with the redevelopment of Overton Square and the Fairgrounds.

With total retention and controlled release of the stormwater from both sites in addition to the use of as much pervious surfacing as possible, I bet we can fix the problems without mucking up any of Overton Park.
