My point here, which I think I establish in pretty significant detail, is that Randolph hasn't been a huge success in Memphis because he's been playing the way he always has, but because he's been playing differently than his established career norms -- some changes are small and some are significant, but they add up to a different, more effective, and more efficient player.

And I'd argue that it wasn't rational -- in season number 9, at age 28 -- for anyone to have expected Randolph to alter his game this significantly. You could hope for that, but not expect it.

For whatever reasons or justifications you care to lean on in hindsight, you were wrong about Zach Randolph, as were most other national and local media pundits. Most of you were correct about Allen Iverson.
