An Australian Baby Boomer who visited Memphis a few weeks ago and was captivated with the City and the future that should play out over the next decade. I thought as a cashed up aussie I too would back my judgement and purchase some rental properties in the 38104 district or Harbour Town.
Well think again ! from a regulatory point of view it's straightforward.

Tom: you've put your finger on the most evil thing about predatory lending--it victimizes the people, and the communities, who can least afford it. In other words, just because someone's poor, or lives in an economically depressed area, doesn't mean they can't be victimized.

JB: Trust me, it's a mistake to judge the merits of a lawsuit based on the latest filing. It's the same as judging a debate based on the last argument.

I must say, though, that I'm at a loss to understand how arguing that Memphis is an economic cesspool deflects the accusation that the bank targeted black borrowers for predatory loans.
