Look into the charter schools. They have managed to cut a lot of the crap and may have an unfilled need.

      <![CDATA[The thing they are not saying in this article: hiring great teachers will only work for a short time, eventually those teachers see that their environment does not support them. By environment I mean Principals, fellow teachers, and district officials.

      <![CDATA[During my brief tenure as an MCS teacher (and I'll admit my abilities as a teacher fell short of my knowledge of subject matter or desire to impart said knowledge to students), we spent more effort and resources on making sure students didn't wear red shoelaces than we did on teaching them Thoreau or Twain or Hughes. <br>

What good is a teacher making six figures if the classroom doesn't have textbooks?
