I would love to have a studio down on broad but its already to high there's tons of vacant lots that deadbeat land owners refuse to do anything with, waiting on target corp to buy them up or artist to turn the neighborhood around . falling down buildings that they want several hundred thousand for the old brown building at the south end for example its been vacant the five years Iv'e been here.I looked at a vacant lot further south 65,000 for about 80 feetx100.The blue building on Scott st with the piano on the side is a disaster they want 150 k for.And the further south you go you take your life in your own hands. And now we have a study to see if the area will support lofts so land developers will buy up some of the huge falling down buildings out there build over priced lofts and toss in a Starbucks.I'm all for it But if you think its going to be affordable I don't buy it.If you would like to prove me wrong please do Id love to find a space down there that's affordable and I don't make Directer of a College money.Id be glad to drop 300 bucks a month for 1000-1500 sq feet.

My goodness, if Detroit can do it, surely we can.

A community with a population of Art enthusiasts and Artists with great comradery is certainly a positive mark. However, if there a not a viable base of collectors/clients the Artists in discussion are like a professional sports team without a home stadium.

An Art museum seriously dedicated to local talent is needed instead of "ring knocking" big exhibitions of notable expired Artists to gain attention for ambitious museum executives.
