I even question the rankings of America's Best High School. I know that if students were required to take an AP class, the ranking goes up, even if many of the students score low on the AP exam

Have to agree with Marty on this; these "rankings" and such are dubious at best, and downright harmful at worst. But you said it, in a USA Today and internet media shaped world, no one wants complexities or anything complicated or long form.

Comparisons like this, inevitable as they are, are also invalid for reasons the folks who publish these bogus reports are well aware of but don't care about because the public laps them up.

They are based on the FBI's UCR (Uniform Crime Report), which even the FBI itself, when it issues the report, warns against using as the basis for any kinds of comparisons.

I think the data used in this ranking is questionable, at best. I report it because it's there, and last year Annesdale-Snowden really rallied together against the designation, but even the way the "neighborhoods" are drawn is weird.

Check the details on Neighborhood Scout (where the data from the wallet pop post came from) to see their bizarre perspective. For the 3rd and S Parkway area, they have median home value at $67,381 and Neighborhood character at more hip and trendy than 70% of US neighborhoods, and more walkable that 69%
And this site is supposed to help out-of-towners choose neighborhoods?
