      <![CDATA[I'm sure Mary accurately reported her shopping experience, but isn't this the same kind of happy talk we hear from the retail industry every year, only to find out, when the actual numbers come in at the end of the season, that their accounts of shopping fervor were overblown and meant more to manipulate us into contributing to the the buying frenzy than to be anything like an accurate predictor of the outcome?
