      <![CDATA[You have hit very close to the crux of the problem.<br>
<br>
More ambulances is the answer, but that would be at the expense of fire fighters. EMS calls constitute over 80% of all responses by the FD.

Benson is correct that the union is worried about jobs period. That entire place needs a shakedown from top to bottom, but that is another diatribe for another day.<br>
<br>
Where the union is partially correct is that SUV type vehicles put under that type of strain are not going to last very long, 2 maybe 3 years top before they'll be literally falling apart.

      <![CDATA[I think Benson is afraid that the longer this drags on, the more likely someone will stumble across the embarrassing business relationship that is probably driving this deal. This is the same way we end up with voting machines that can't be tracked or audited, and weapon systems nobody wants except the politicians who are paid to buy them.
