I think we should continue our half-hearted measures so we can continue to "do something" whatever that something is. We should fund more studies and encourage the formation of at least six more professional groups made up of prominent business leaders who will get together to discuss what can be done to turn the city around. Meanwhile, we could take ourselves to court - that should drag things out another eight years, at which point we can revisit the question.

Hey Valkraider, The #8 has to happen, next time you're in town take a look at the closed up businesses along the Main Street strip where the trolley rolls, those businesses are shut down (or shut down early) because no one goes there after dark and not that many in the daytime, the turnover is ridiculous. I am not advocate of more cars so much as I would keep the trolley on the street, but people come to Memphis and never visit Main Street because it is not accessible via vehicular and they don't know it exists.

John: I'm trying to figure out why you included the failure to pass consolidated government as an accomplishment (did I misunderstand that?), especially since, based on what you've written previously, that doesn't seem to be the way you feel about it.

As for what I'd do: figuratively speaking, I'd rid Memphis of all (or at least most) of its natives, since it's mostly its natives who are so negative about the city and its potential.
