Among other things, he voted to repeal health care reform, to retain DADT, to defeat economic stimuli, and generally to support the Republican (read: oppressive and elitist) ideological agenda.

The fact he sees the debt limit issue as being a threat to his party's electoral prospects doesn't make him more of a Lincoln Republican; it just makes him more of a political opportunist (forgive the truism).
