      <![CDATA[From what I've seen in my area of Cleburne county, which is 6 miles north of the dam, there is mostly 1 well, in one corner,  per 640 acre section. Only now are they adding more, to the same pad, so that they can pull gas off of 4 sections from 1 pad built in the corner.

To be clear, Mr. Lipsey did not look at a drilling rig and declare it a resort property. Perhaps I was unclear, but a major point of the piece is that the recreation interests were there first.

If they are drilling on Mr. Lipsey's property, it's because he consented to the drilling when he signed an agreement with them, an agreement for which he's likely getting sweet royalty payments.<br>
<br>
I'm sure the gas company appreciates Mr. Lipsey cashing their checks and bitching about the drilling at the same time.

      <![CDATA[I've always liked being able to say that the coal we burn at Allen doesn't contribute to mountaintop removal in the Appalachia (screw CO and WY) but if TVA goes with gas instead of new scrubbers, we'll be fracking up our own summer homes to keep the lights on. Then again, gas would mean less mess in terms of toxic ash ponds and mercury in McKellar Lake, less smoke in the Smokies, and it wouldn't heat up the planet so fast.
