If there are no objective moral laws, then whose subjective inclinations are good or bad ultimately? It all begs the question of why have morals if there are no ultimate goals or standards that are transcendent to mankind?

A worldview that even holds to morality is irrational given an atheistic worldview. If we are nothing more than 'matter in motion', how can matter be right or wrong?

I take offense to the idea that you need to have a belief in a Deity to have moral standards.

Personally, I think it speaks less of someone to suggest that they NEED to believe in a Deity to have moral standards. If the belief in a Deity is the ONLY thing keeping your moral standards, then you're a weak soul.

You can be an atheist and have morals.

First of all, Medicare is not a Constitutional function of the Federal Government. It is a Tenth Amendment issue, as it is not listed as a particular under General Welfare.

do you realize that for every nitwit who's come completely unmoored from reality, there are three moderate, even conservative-leaning, folks who are sick to the back teeth of hearing how Obama's a "socialist"?

(even though the policies he's pushed were drafted by right wing think tanks in the 80s, backed by the GOP in the 90s and 2000s, passed by a Republican governor in Massachusetts, and upheld as Constitutional by one of the most conservative Chief Justices in history)
