That's an interesting prediction from Berry and Bickers. I've never seen that, but recently, I've had some experience with models that use economic indicators as predictors for other measures, and I've seen the ways that using the right balance of economic factors in certain regions can accurately back-cast and then forecast values.

I've never seen economic factors used to predict votes, though it's an interesting model idea, and I could see how certain economic factors could be used to predict human behavior in voting.

On this particular election, with the economy in its current state and unemployment where it is, that usually leads to a change in the White House.

When I say that Romney can't say or do anything to make inroads with the black vote it's because he's a Mormon Republican going against a mixed race Democrat.

Mormonism, up until recent years hadn't exactly been so friendly to blacks. They're still having trouble integrating their religion.
