They are two different things. I understand the idea of saved value for a government business if it can keep jobs local.

Governments are not a business.

In businesses that have a global or at least nationwide customer base, there is less chance of a negative revenue impact if they are forced to take cost cutting measures. For businesses with a local customer base, this type of move has to be carefully considered due to the impact it could also have on revenues.

Decreasing costs doesn't help you if it decreases revenues at an equal or greater rate.

I have some of the same experiences as yourself. Outsourcing is certainly not to be taken lightly, the effects on those outsourced can be pretty bad.

In the case of the Unified System, it is no-win deal.

However, I do realize we are now in a globally competitive market, and struggling businesses are going to be forced to make cuts and/or outsource in order to survive.

I've been through a few different cuts in my brief career, and every time it happens, the way I see it is that the company has to sacrifice some to save many. If a company operated like the government, keeping people employed even if they can't afford it, then the company would go under and EVERYONE would lose their job.

No doubt that when outsourcing was discussed by some of these employees that will lose their jobs, they were all for it. Now, I wonder how they feel?

Grove and others, you need to rethink your position on soutsourcing.

I am dropping the limited subscription to the CA as of today.
