Thank you for the article on this important issue. We have had the same population in the Memphis area for at least the last thirty years, but now it is spread out over a wider and wider geography.

Thank you Hannah for the article.
I echo all of Scott's comments.

The Sierra Club's page on the study is at:
http://content.sierraclub.org/beyondoil/co…
The report itself is at:
http://www.sierraclub.org/transportation/d…

I encourage all residents of Memphis, Shelby County, and the entire region to think in terms of road projects and transit projects which enhance the regional economy and strengthen the core city, and NOT projects which continue to subsidize an automobile-dependent economy, and encourage development ever further away. To say nothing of air pollution and CO2 emission impacts.

I also ask, what happens if gasoline prices double or triple?

Thank you for the excellent coverage, Hannah, and thank you to Jim Strickland for continuing to step out of the historically narrowly defined leadership role assigned to City Council members.

Memphis and the metro area must begin to bring its disparate planning and development activities together under a single comprehensive vision that focuses on future needs and desires rather than reaction to the hodge podge that came before.
