I am curious to see how this plays out assuming these 4 bills all pass in the legislature. If the bills pass, as I assume they will, I want to see if any parties change their tunes and how.

My guess is Mays is waiting right now.

There is nothing in the bills about the buildings YET. One of the bills is a "caption" bill, whose title is a generic for schools . The bill will be used to scrub up any issues still outstanding in May.
There are enough sane people on the Unified BOE for us to sit down and negotiate with, provided the SCC8 don't try and pack the BOE with their buddies come July 1st.

Just for clarification, the lift of the MSD ban is going to limit the number of district in large counties to 6 maximum districts not including the county district. In Shelby, that would mean SCS and 6 MSDs.

I guess to summarize my point...yes the old money is skewed toward white people because of past practices, but don't take out those frustrations on the rest that have had to work their way up the social ladder in the past few generations (the majority of middle class America).

Also, that old money, generational wealth is only a small percentage of the population, a percentage of the population that mostly would be too good to associate themselves with people like we have in our suburbs.

By the way, most of the people in this area that had life handed to them on a silver platter, the ones with generational wealth, live in East Memphis, not the suburbs. The vast majority of people in the suburbs are either middle class, or if they are wealthy, it's 1st or 2nd generation wealth.

I can tell you for a fact that East Memphis old money looks down on suburban residents because our families, if they have money, had to make their own way and didn't have it for generations.

So again, if you are angry at the establishment, be angry at East Memphis, not us.

The people in the suburbs are more like your children, successful or middle class because their parents sacrificed to give them opportunity and forced them to focus on education, like you have.

How many minorities was passed over for that job so that they could have made all of those sacrifices so their children would be successful?
I have no doubt that your father worked hard, sacrificed, etc. I am asking, was the playing field level for minorities when he got that job?

Anyone who runs the race of life can succeed, however, how long will it take them to approach the finish line when the rest of the runners had a 50 yard head start?

Hell, my folks worked hard, I mean very, very hard. The only problem is they didn''t have access to the good jobs that would have allowed all that hard work and sacrifices to trickle down to their children.
My daughter worked for a major university in this state, Memphis, no, not University of Memphis.

Why is the 14th amendment not an issue in other parts of the country where some counties have multiple MSD's and SSD's? The county in PA where I attended school currently has 43 SSD's, each with taxing authority, and some are very segregated.

The level of denial is high. It's an emotional issue that especially a certain generation sees as a Civil Rights issue.

The NT2 bill passed last year was rushed through. It passed, but with opposition form Republican Richard Montgomery, who was from Hamiltion County.
