You idea that the bills will come up late makes sense.

A big IF here, but if Judge Mays decides to hold his ruling on the constitutionality issue, and proceed to the 14th Amendment issue, I would not expect the bills to come up until his ruling on that.

I spoke with one of our leaders last night, and while he was guarded in his reply, he did say that Judge Mays is driving this process: "He has the power and is in total control (of our options).

We will have to wait and see what the judge wants to do.

That's not to say they can't be added to the calendar.

I don't know when the bills will get to committee.

My guess is they will wait until this Status Conference with Judge Mays is complete and they have a better idea of what Judge Mays is thinking. If It were me, I would wait until he issues his ruling on the constitutionally issues.

Commendable of you, however, whether the ban remains or is lifted, those districts that already exist are grandfathered in.

The other point is that the bills have to clear, sub-committee and then the full committees before going to the floor for a vote.

Why don't you look up those committees and see where the members are from? When you look at the make-up of those members and where they are from, the big three would make quite a difference.

This is a list of the members of the Association of Independent and Municipal School districts in Tennessee. ( they have a web site if you are interested) There are actually 4 or 5 more Special or Municipal districts in Tennessee that are apparently not members at this time.

Ah, that's different.

I didn't realize you did not really mean what you were saying. You were just using those words for "shock value", and performing a humanitarian service in the process, by assisting other people along their individual roads to greater self-awareness.

I must have missed the GOP, as a party, adopting that tactic , although without doubt a useful public service.

Posting about what happened in the past and how it relates to today is not biased. It is a factual statement as I see the problem we are having about the school districts.

Whether the suburbs get msds or not, it will neither hurt nor help me, so, yes I am unbiased.

Most of you are correct in my estimation. If these bills are killed, it will be done in sub-committees and/or full committees.
