A Look at the New Jack Binion’s Steakhouse

Wednesday marked the grand re-opening of Jack Binion’s Steakhouse inside the Horseshoe Casino Tunica, which has just completed about $10 million of renovations.

Executed in deep red, the new Binion’s is a breath of fresh air, a wide-open space that balances big-city cool with a certain Southern charm.
I recommend starting with with the chipotle grilled shrimp (front, left). It’s definitely got some bite to it, but it’s beautifully balanced by the sweet tang of the mango salsa.

Before wading into the appetizers, I made sure I was sufficiently primed to enjoy the experience with a Knob Creek Manhattan.
Made of translucent onyx, the bar at the new Binion's glows molten yellow like the Sankara Stones from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
The Steak Flight: From left: (1) Duck breast with blueberry sauce; (2) Short rib with mashed potatoes; (3) Pork belly on rosemary french toast.
The heirloom tomato salad is served with Maytag blue cheese, roasted garlic vinaigrette, and ribbons of shaved cucumber. But the real show-stoppers are the tomatoes themselves, big honking things from Ripley, TN.
