And the FedEx St. Jude Leader Is ...

... journeyman pro Chris Smith, currently 207th on the PGA Tour money list. Smith shot a six-under 64 to become the first-day standard-bearer. D.A. Points was two strokes back and veteran Paul Azinger was three strokes behind with three holes left to play.

The "Long-Ball Rebel" aka John Daly? Looks like he'll be heading to Tunica this weekend on the heels of a not-so-hot 77. Get all the scores here.

  • What Should the Grizzlies Do Tonight?

The Grizzlies lost Game 1 in their playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks Sunday night, 103-93. Despite getting out-rebounded 24-6 (no, that isn’t a misprint) in a first-half in which star forward Pau Gasol scored only three points, the Grizzlies were able to get within one point of the favored Mavs in the third quarter before Dallas pulled away. Gasol rebounded with a fine second half (21 points and 6 rebounds), which the Grizzlies will need more of to pull the upset in Game 2, set for tonight in Dallas.

What adjustments should the Grizzlies make? We break it down at Beyond the Arc, the Flyer’s Grizzlies blog here.

  • Redbirds Win! Redbirds Win ... er, wait ...

The Memphis Redbirds won their first game of the year last night after beginning the season with a record nine straight losses. The 'Birds beat Omaha 10-3, beginning a one-game win streak that saw them climb to within five games of first place in their division. In celebration, rowdy revelers partied 'til dawn on Beale Street. (Then again, rowdy revelers party 'til dawn on Beale Street every Saturday night, so there may not have been a direct connection.)

At any rate, the PRIDE is back and 'Birds fans eagerly look forward to today's 2:10 p.m. Easter Sunday game at AutoZone Park.

    UPDATE: Birds lose Sunday.
