Avery Sunshine at The Vine

A Spelman grad with a gospel and theatrical background, the Pennsylvania-bred, Atlanta-based Avery Sunshine made the transition into Jill Scott-style neo-soul last year with her solid eponymous debut album. She'll be performing in Memphis as part of the Basement Lounge, a Martin Luther King Jr. Day version of the recurring event from Memphis Rebirth Entertainment. The Basement Lounge is designed as an elegant but low-key alternative to the club scene, and this installment of the event takes place at the Vine (1819 Madison) on Saturday, January 15th. Doors open at 8 p.m. Music starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $10.
