BIG ASS TRAGEDY

BIG ASS TRAGEDY

Shawn Brown's October 3rd obituary in the Virginia Beach Virginian-Pilot read more like One of Mr. Blackwell's famous fashioN screeds than a traditional obit. The 34-year-old Virginia-born surfer-turned-L.A.-art-director loved loud pants that most golfers would shun, and Crayola-green gardening clogs were his preferred footwear. So what has any of this got to do with Memphis? According to the Pilot, Brown wasn't buried in a suit. He was "wearing a T-short his mother selected, with the words 'Big-Ass Truck' emblazoned across the front." Could this be another first for Memphis music?
