Black Film Festival 

When: July 10-11 2009
Among the independent black films being screened during this two-day festival are Kennon Nikita’s Just the Two of Us, which follows an aspiring writer raising a baby while dealing with the baby’s mother and his new love interest, and Marcellous Lovelace’s A Man Called Him: Execution of Ones Self, which tells the story of four black men and their experiences dealing with life in Memphis. The festival also will include three workshops that cover the fundamentals of filmmaking, acting, and promoting independent films. Cost for the workshops is $60. For more information, call 525-0009.
